Tumblr: Home to the hundreds of hilarious gifs on the internet. It’s only fair we pay respects to the joy it has brought to so many of our lives. If you don’t know Tumblr, you don’t know living. Ol’ Tumblr was founded in 2007 by ingenious David Karp and currently is home to 167 employees, and available in 12 languages.
In fact, in November of 2012, searches for “tumblr” on Google surpassed searches for the term “blog.” That’s a big deal.
We want to recognize the milestone they recently reached, so get ready; it’s a big one. More that 100 million blogs and 44.6 billion blog posts have been created solely from the platform that is Tumblr.
In March 2013, the company excited fans with news to release mobile ads on the iOS and Android platforms in the first half of this year, as it eyes its first annual profit. Which is, needless to say, all-around good news.
