Tech Toys Make Vegas Debut

January 11, 2010 written by MJ

The biggest show in Las Vegas this weekend wasn’t about musicians and celebrities. When the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) took center stage this weekend, all eyes were on the gadgets and innovations soon to hit the market – and even a few that won’t be for sale for quite some time.

The theme this year wasn’t bigger and better, it was smaller and thinner. The “what’s better” part is still up for debate. It was all about technology, the kind that will impact the Internet marketing industry for the upcoming year. It was the coming out party for items like the new iPhones that will connect to our mobile websites and the social networking gadgets that will link our clients to a whole new world of exposure.

With categories from content production to e-commerce, everything you could imagine was on display, all geared at making life faster and easier whether at home or at work. Among the tech toys making their debut were the ultra thin wireless HDTV and new-fangled e-readers.

There were a myriad of phones, mobile projectors and Bluetooth accessories. Add in the netbook and smartphone hybrids and you’ve got an “office away from office” for the SEO professional.

A new twist this year was the serious marketing strategy toward women and technology. The latest research says they don’t consider gadgets toys, but practical ways to manage a lifestyle filled with kids, activities and social media.

As an added bonus, the CES had some living, breathing entertainment. There was a full schedule of musicians, actors and sports personalities, with the likes of Drew Carey, Shannon Miller and Tommy Lee.

But for the most part, all eyes were on the new toys.

The event was produced by the Consumer Electronics Association. Check out the welcoming address by Gary Shapiro, CEA president and CEO, featured here.
