New Year’s Resolutions For Your Web Marketing Program
December 29, 2011
It’s that time of year again! Whether it’s getting rid of unwanted weight, gaining education, or saving money, the New Year’s resolutions are nearly endless. Statistically speaking, only 12% of these noble people will actually succeed in keeping their resolution through 2012. At CM, we believe in always reaching and surpassing goals, especially when it comes to web marketing. That’s why we’ve come up with these New Year’s resolutions which are easy to keep and great for your website.
I Will Ensure My Website is Easy to Use
If you’re marketing on the wonderful web, you’re going to want to make sure you’re presenting your users with the experience they expect. Is your website slow to load, hard to navigate, or difficult to understand? Your website is an investment that should benefit you as well as your users, so be sure you make finding even the tiniest bit of information quick and easy as pie.
I Will Go Local
Search is global, but a lot of the people doing the searching are local. Let them know you’re just down the street by using all your local SEO options. Local SEO works nicely alongside nationwide SEO programs, and it can be added easily to an existing search marketing program.
I Will Check My E-Karma
How is your business portrayed online? If you’ve got a lot of negative reviews or even (oh no!) an entire website devoted to bashing your company, that’s going to hurt. It might not knock you down in the search engine rankings, but it’s certainly going to distract people from all the good results. If you’ve got bad karma online, you need to know about it so you can change it. A few simple Google searches is all it takes to reveal bad karma.
I Will Try Social Media
Jumping into social with both feet can be a little overwhelming. Take some baby steps in the New Year, but do it wisely. If you’re not sure where to start, talk with a professional! A mismanaged Facebook page or Twitter account can be a thorn in the side of your marketing initiatives rather than the help it should be.
I Will Track My Progress
If you have ongoing marketing initiatives (which you really should!) get serious about your metrics. Install Google Analytics, if you haven’t already. Watch the changes in your rankings for key phrases or terms. Make sure you can really see a difference.
