As an employee of Customer Magnetism, I am always proud to be a part of the CM Cares Initiative. This February, the company and staff supported the Special Olympics, a cause that I hold close to my heart having a family member that was born with Down Syndrome. The Special Olympics provides training and support for disabled adults and children and allows them to be courageous and continue to maintain a healthy, physical state while participating in fun, competitive sports events.
I have participated in the annual Polar Plunge for the past two years. The 2012 Polar Plunge was held this past weekend at the Virginia Beach oceanfront, requiring a dip in the ocean with temperatures in the upper 40s. Both this year and last year, I have been a member of the large, colorful team called, “Freezy Fo Sheezy”. With the help of our local sponsors, we held events prior to the plunge to raise additional funds toward the charity. “Dunktanktopia” was held at Uno’s Chicago Grill in Norfolk, VA and raised nearly $ 900.00 alone. In all, over 1 million dollars was raised for the charity and my team was able to contribute almost $12,000.
Customer Magnetism was my biggest supporter and donated over half of my original goal. Employees of CM, my friends, and family members also made personal donations to my efforts. I couldn’t have done it without them! It was such an awesome feeling to be a part of the thousands of people who came out to support the Special Olympics and take the plunge and I look forward to plunging again in 2013!
